Lapwing discusses future farming with Bioladies

Lapwing Energy’s innovative carbon removal project, Reverse Coal, was showcased at the Bioladies Network event hosted at the Earlham Institute in Norwich. Jamie Smith, Innovation & Commercial Manager at Lapwing, presented the project to an audience of industry professionals, researchers, and sustainability advocates focused on advancing bio-based solutions. Jamie outlined how Reverse Coal combines rewetting of lowland peat with biomass cultivation and high-temperature pyrolysis to produce biochar, generate renewable energy, and sequester carbon for over 1,000 years. The presentation sparked discussion on how nature-based technologies can deliver meaningful climate impact while contributing to sustainable agriculture and biodiversity goals. “Events like this are essential for connecting with likeminded people working across the bioeconomy,” Jamie said. “It was a privilege to share the Reverse Coal story and learn from others at the cutting edge of environmental innovation.”
